Terms of Use

The agreement between us

Last updated: June 3, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to Safe Trip Direct Student Transportation ("Safe Trip Direct," "we," "us"). By using our website, forms, messaging, or booking a ride, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. What We Are (and What We're Not)

Safe Trip Direct is a technology and matching platform. We connect families, students, schools, and public riders with independent, vetted drivers using their own personal vehicles. We are not a school district, a public transit provider, a rideshare corporation, a licensed motor carrier, or a yellow-bus operator. We do not own vehicles, employ drivers, or operate transportation services ourselves.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, register a student, or book a ride. By doing so you confirm you have legal authority to enter this agreement on your own behalf or as the parent or legal guardian of a minor rider.

3. Independent Drivers

Every driver on the platform is an independent contractor — a self-employed individual, not an employee or agent of Safe Trip Direct. Drivers operate, insure, fuel, and maintain their own personal vehicles. They are personally responsible for their driving, conduct, and compliance with all applicable Texas and federal laws.

Our role is screening, matching, and ongoing oversight: we vet at the county, state, and federal level; interview in person; verify insurance and vehicle (2016 or newer); and re-run checks annually. What we do not do is sit in the driver's seat.

4. Ride Matching, Not Ride Guarantee

We coordinate ride matching but cannot guarantee a specific pickup minute, a specific driver, or absolute availability. Traffic, weather, mechanical issues, or a last-minute driver cancellation can affect any ride. When that happens we re-match as quickly as possible. Safe Trip Direct is not liable for missed school, appointments, or events caused by such delays.

5. Booking Windows & Payment

Public rides require a minimum 6-hour advance booking. Pricing is quoted based on vehicle type, passenger count, distance, and the day and time of the ride. Cancellation and no-show fees may apply. Once a ride is completed, charges are final.

6. Rider & Parent Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate pickup/drop-off info and student details.
  • Disclose medical, behavioral, or accessibility needs in advance.
  • Have the student ready at the scheduled pickup time and place.
  • Treat drivers and support staff with respect; abusive behavior may end service.

7. Insurance & Liability

Each independent driver carries the personal auto insurance required by Texas law. Safe Trip Direct's role is verification and matching, not operation of the vehicle. All vehicle travel involves inherent risk. To the maximum extent allowed by law, Safe Trip Direct, its owners, employees, and partners are not liable for personal injury, property damage, delays, missed events, third-party conduct, or losses caused by weather, traffic, mechanical failure, or events beyond our reasonable control. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid Safe Trip Direct in the 30 days before the event giving rise to the claim.

8. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless Safe Trip Direct and its team from any claim arising out of your use or misuse of the platform, your violation of these Terms, or your interaction with a driver or third party.

9. Service Changes & Termination

We may change, suspend, or end any part of the service at any time. We may also refuse or revoke access to anyone who violates these Terms, endangers a rider, or repeatedly cancels or no-shows.

10. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute will be resolved by binding arbitration administered in Dallas County, Texas under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action. Claims not subject to arbitration must be filed in the state or federal courts of Dallas County, Texas.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.
